Why I Chose This Work

I came to hypnotherapy as a client first

I know the frustration of understanding a problem, trying hard and still finding yourself back in the same place. Hypnotherapy helped me make changes that other useful approaches had not reached at that time, and that is what made me want to train.

My own route was not tidy. I struggled with study, confidence and direction before later earning a full scholarship to Peking University and graduating at the top of my cohort. The difference was not a sudden burst of willpower. My environment, habits and view of myself changed over time.

That academic path rewarded the attitude of a researcher: careful questions, testing what seemed true, and staying honest when the evidence pointed somewhere else. Years in high-pressure logistics and analytics then demanded the practical counterpart: getting things done, solving what was in front of you, and delivering work that had to hold up in real conditions.

That experience left me with a practical belief: people often have more ability than they can currently access. Therapy should not add another layer of pressure. It should help you understand what is getting in the way and find a way forward that feels like your own.

My approach

How I work

I do not present hypnotherapy as magic or a quick fix. We use attention, imagery, suggestion and rehearsal to explore a different response. You stay aware and involved throughout.

I will not push you or promise a rapid result. I listen first, explain what I am doing and work at a pace that feels manageable.

I bring both habits into the room: a researcher's curiosity about what is actually happening, and a practical focus on what you can use outside the session. Living in different countries also shaped how I understand behaviour. Pressure, identity, belonging, habits and environment can all influence how a person responds.

What I care about in the room

I want the room to feel human before it feels clinical. You should be able to say the messy version, ask the obvious question, be sceptical, pause if you need to, and still be taken seriously.

That matters to me because change is easier when people do not feel they have to perform being fine.

Training and Trust

Training and professional standards

I am an IPHM Accredited Practitioner, membership no. IPHMNM16918. IPHM is a professional body for holistic and complementary practitioners; this is professional accreditation rather than statutory healthcare registration, and it does not guarantee a particular service or outcome. I am fully insured, registered with the ICO and work within a clear scope of practice.

My training includes hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching, and I am also a qualified yoga and meditation teacher. That is why I pay attention to the whole pattern: mind, body, breath, habits, emotions and identity. Persistent pain support is a developing focus, which I am building cautiously while arranging further training and appropriate supervision, always alongside clients' medical care. I offer sessions in person in Rugby and online where appropriate.

I aim to provide a setting where you feel listened to, respected and free to decide whether the work is right for you.
